DESCRIPTION
This course prepares the student to testify in court as an expert
in Traffic Collision Reconstruction. The student will build on
the concepts taught in the Intermediate and Advanced classes to
determine impact speed based on momentum and energy concepts.
The course teaches the student about the law of conservation of
momentum, the law of conservation of energy, the analysis of speed
from damage and vehicle dynamics. Other topics include: motorcycle,
auto-pedestrian/bicycle and heavy duty/articulated vehicle collision
analysis, and computer aided collision reconstruction. A review
of basic math and physics principles is provided. The course meets
the guidelines established by POST.
The course includes computer software which
each student will receive. The student will be taught
how to use the software to make mathematical calculations based
on the equations taught in the class.
