DESCRIPTION
This 40-hour course builds directly on the concepts of the laws
of conservation of energy and conservation of momentum taught
in the Traffic Accident Reconstruction I class. The class will
focus on calculating the speed of autos from crush. The course
will review basic algebra, physics, basic motion equations, energy
and momentum. The course will teach the student o properly analyze
crush deformation and the procedures for measuring crush and damage
profiles. The student will learn how to calculate A, B and G stiffness
coefficients and how to use two- four- and six-point crush equations
to calculate the dissipated energy. In addition, the student will
learn how to use a momentum-energy solution to reconstruct speeds
for head-on and rear-end impacts and how to supplement their calculations
in oblique angle impacts where the pre-impact angle for a turning
vehicle is unknown. The course meets the guidelines established
by P.O.S.T. ACTAR approved for CEU.
